AddressNM Insurance is a highly regarded, leading Insurance Underwriting Agency operating across Australia and New Zealand. We proudly employ over 90 staff in these regions and distribute, via our partners, insurance across many recreational and commercial insurance lines. Our brands include Nautilus Marine Insurance, Australian Caravan Insurance, National Motorcycle Insurance and Proteus Marine Insurance. Derivatives of these product lines, via white label brands, are supporting major international and local retailers and manufacturers to assist their customer’s needs.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Marine Underwriter to support and grow our Proteus Team. Proteus Marine writes all commercial marine lines including Marine Cargo, Marine Carriers, Commercial Hull and Marine Liabilities.
The Role:
- To assist the Head of Marine – Proteus in the achievement of NM Insurance/Proteus Marine Insurance corporate mission, objectives and financial plans.
- Consider and underwrite risks as per Proteus Underwriting Guidelines and whilst adhering to your nominated Underwriting Authorities provided by insurer partners.
- Promote and encourage development of the business with your allocated intermediaries by providing exceptional service.
- Contribute to a culture of compliance, support, and professionalism both internally and externally.
- Promote and encourage development of the business through market feedback, and client needs.
- Assist internal underwriters, claims and customer service staff in meeting Company and partner expectations.
Our preferred candidate will be able to show the following attributes and experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial marine underwriting.
- Previous experience in similar role with delegated underwriting authority.
- ANZIIF (Snr Assoc) or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong technical knowledge of marine insurance protocols.
- Customer Service focused.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, customers, stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Team Player and who is self-driven and motivated.
- Determined, resilient and disciplined to achieve targets and quality results.
- Literacy in technology and systems in current use in the Insurance industry.
