Job DetailsJob Title: PSL6 Management AccountantEmployment Type: OngoingClassification: Parliamentary Service Level 6Closing Date: 11:30pm AEDT, 17 May 2024Contact: Yun Chen, (02) 6277 5191, yun.chen@aph.gov.auThe OpportunityThe Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 6 Management Accountant within Finance Branch.In this role you will have the opportunity to provide financial advice and support to a complex business which comes not just from its size, but the range of unique and commercial activities undertaken at APH. The section also develops and supports a significant capital works program, which ensures Parliament House is maintained according to its original design intent.We are seeking candidates who can build productive working relationships across the department, enjoy working in a collaborative environment and have excellent attention to detail.This recruitment process will be used to fill a number of ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies at the PSL6 classification. A merit pool will be established through this process to fill similar vacancies.Who we are looking forOur ideal candidate will be:

Job Specific Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in areas such as Accounting, Finance, or Commerce with professional membership or is working towards obtaining membership.
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Section: Management Accounting and Reporting
Immediate supervisor: Senior Management AccountantUnder limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Prepare and assist in presenting monthly financial reports to business area staff, and work with staff across the department to develop budgets and forecasts.
2. Prepare monthly capital project reports and analysis in consultation with Project Managers across multiple business areas in all aspects of capital budgeting, forecasting and reporting.3. Assist with internal budget development and maintenance, including mid-year review
4. Assist with the development of capital works programs budgets5. Assist with external budgeting.
6. Prepare and process end of month requirements, for example journals, accruals and prepayments.7. Perform financial analysis and investigation to support the Senior Management Accountant, Director and Assistant Secretary, Finance Branch in making decisions.8. SalaryCurrently, the salary range for this position is $94,259 - $105,941 per annum.Conditions of EmploymentEmployment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
  • Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
