About the role
The role offers adiverse range of work opportunities, including psychological intervention tohigh-risk violent and sexual offenders, court report writing, risk ofreoffending assessments, and providing consultation and liaison support tostaff who manage offenders in both the community and custody.
This is a rare opportunityfor Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists, or maybe someone workingtowards endorsement in either field, with strong clinical skills, seeking tofurther their career within the forensic space. There are two different roleswithin the one Job Description Form (JDF), and you can specify your interest inone or both roles. Please note that successful candidates may or may not berequired to fulfil all specified role requirements – for example, not allpositions are required to present evidence in Court. Role requirements willdepend upon the service/business area recruited to.
Forensic PsychologicalIntervention Team: You will be involved in the rehabilitation of offenders who arereferred to the service as part of a court imposed or release order.Intervention is targeted at reducing the risk of reoffending to enhancecommunity safety. The role is challenging, and also very rewarding. In thisrole you will providing individual psychological counselling to offenders inthe community or custody. You will work closely with the Community CorrectionsOfficers who case manage the offender while they are on court orders.
Forensic PsychologicalAssessment Team: You will provide assessment of services for offenders either incustody or the community, to inform behavioural and/or risk management, as wellas identify criminogenic treatment needs. Assessments are carried out foroffenders who have committed offences of a serious nature and received terms oflife or indeterminate sentences. You will also assess those offenders who aredeemed to be an unacceptable risk to the community and are considered under theHigh Risk Serious Offenders Act 2020. In this role you may be required toprovide evidence in court.
Eligibility
- Applicants are required tohave an accredited Masters, Doctorate or equivalent degree in Clinical,Forensic or Counselling psychology. They must also have current generalregistration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia andendorsement in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology.
- Applicants are required tohave a valid C Class Drivers Licence.
- Travel within WesternAustralia may be required.
