Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane (MYAHCB) is looking for an Psychologist or Occupational Therapist to join the team on a full time, 12 month fixed term basis (30 May 2025).About the roleThe Emotional Health Unit (EHU) is a private mental health offering for young people aged 16-25. EHU consists of a 12 bed inpatient ward (Amanda Flynn Clinic), a Recovery College (day program) and specialist consulting suites. The mental Health clinician will work across the ward and Recovery College providing a range of mental health intervention including individual and group therapy.This is the senior allied health position in the service and the position will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and Psychiatrist as part of the leadership group. The Mental Health Clinician (Social Worker /Psychologist /OT) will provide expert clinical consultancy and take a lead role in the promotion of contemporary mental health practice, with a particular focus on young adult mental health issues at Mater Health. The Mental Health Clinician will be actively involved in research, education and continuous quality improvement and facilitate the development of mental health services across the continuum of care.The role will work with various professionals across Mater Health and requires a well-developed interpersonal, problem solving and customer focused skillset. The role will be required to work across any Mater Mental health Service when there is organisational need.What you'll be doingThe role of the Mental Health Clinician is to deliver a high level of clinical service to patients of Mater Health as a member of the multidisciplinary team. The role involves but is not limited to:
- Provides direct clinical practice to young people and their families and delivers evidence based interventions within the framework of Emotional Health Unit model of care.
- To provide mental health assessment and ensure patients receive consistent coordinated care that addresses their psychological and physical needs.
- Provide advice and assistance in the development of effective interventions for patients experiencing psychiatric and/or emerging behavioral problems.
- Provide ongoing assessment to monitor and review the effectiveness of intervention strategies implemented.
- Liaison with various specialists and attends psycho social meetings.
- Maintains and enhances relationships with multiple internal stakeholders
- Facilitate access to mental health services for patients with mental health needs or ensure other adequate follow up is arranged for their ongoing care upon discharge.
- General Registration via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Psychology Board of Australia Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
- Eligibility for accreditation or current Board approved Supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to professional development and quality improvement and /or research.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical research.
