The Acute Care Team (ACT) is the first point of contact for anyone who may be worried about their mental health or the mental health of someone close to them. This team works with people who are 18 years of age and older. The team runs West Moreton Health’s 24/7 mental health support line.

About the role

This role delivers high level clinical, specialised, non-urgent mental health assessments, counselling and brief intervention to mental health consumers within a multidisciplinary Acute Care Team. This role utilises broad therapeutic knowledge and clinical skills to independently manage a case load including the ability to effectively deliver a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions according to comprehensive biopsychosocial formulations and treatment plans.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Ability to deliver a high level of specialist psychological services in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, including assessment, formulation, planning, implementation and evaluation of complex care needs of consumers with disorders and co-morbidities such as severe and enduring mental illness; alcohol and drug disorders; emotional and mental disorder of an acute nature requiring tertiary mental health intervention.
• Ability to provide senior clinical leadership and demonstrated autonomy in monitoring and prioritising workload demands to initiate, develop and implement quality strategies that will enhance the delivery of the work unit and profession-specific clinical services.
• Undertake complex and varied clinical duties with clinical decisions based on valid and reliable evidence with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
• Ability to undertaken routine tasks within an interdisciplinary framework, ensuring the implementation of individual assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, interdisciplinary consultation, liaison with referring agents, discharge planning and evaluation of care using appropriate outcome and data measurement systems.
• Ability to contribute to positive consumer outcomes by role modelling consumer centred care in the assessment, planning and evaluating of care in collaboration with the consumer and/or their family and the health care team.

• Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
