As a Psychosocial Support Worker, you will provide a person-centred model of care that empowers the participant to grow and develop their skills. You will assist them in expanding the experience that they have access to and interests in.
The ability and willingness to engage with the participant is key to success in this role.
Please note that this position may require you to support individuals with unpredictable behaviours or behaviours that you may find challenging.
Your tasks may include but not be limited to the following:
- Providing quality support to assist psychosocial participants within accommodation services and the community.
- Support participants to grow in independence and skill while enabling them to self-advocate.
- Foster positive relations shifts between all stakeholders, including the participant, their family and friend, colleagues and other professionals.
- Implementing Individual Support Plans and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Ensure a homelike environment is maintained, including cleaning and general household duties.
- Administer medication in line with company policy and individual care plans.
- Ability to work flexible hours, with a willingness to work within a 24/7 rotating roster.
- Providing timely progress reports, shift notes, incident reports and other relevant documentation.
- Previous experience working as a Psychosocial Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Disability Support Worker or Youth Worker.
- Experience in supporting participants with a potential for concerning or challenging behaviours.
- An understanding of the impacts of Mental Health
- Commitment to implementing and following support plans
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work as a part of a close-knit team
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
- Genuine desire to want to engage with participants in a way that promotes positive outcomes.
- Certificate III is desired by not compulsory
- Full NSW Drivers License
- Working With Children Check
- NDIS Worker Check (at your own cost)
- First Aid - Less than 3threeyears old
- CPR less than 12 months old
- Willingness to undergo a police check
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
