This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity
The Communications and Media branch supports the Agency in the development and implementation of strategic communications campaigns, media, Public Affairs, and digital communications, raising awareness of the strategic priorities of the Agency. The Public Affairs and Media team manages media engagement for the Agency, including handling media enquiries, developing media products, media monitoring and liaising across the organisation and with the Minister’s Office to prepare and deliver announcements and Media opportunities. The Public Affairs and Media team also provides strategic advice on emerging issues and is seeking candidates with strong and diverse media skills and experience.
Duties will include:
- liaise with journalists, the Minister’s Office, other agencies, and across NIAA branches to prepare, clear and deliver media products and other material for public release
- monitor the media and support the team in managing the Agency’s daily media report and Media monitoring services
- contribute to strategic media advice
- issues management and Media liaison
- work closely with the other Communications branch teams to ensure a unified and cohesive communications approach for the Agency
- create content for the media and NIAA’s digital channels, including social media platforms
- speech-writing.
