The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking a Public Programs Officer to support the Cultural Strategy and Experience (CS&E) team in the successful delivery of Public Programs and events to enhance Parliament’s status as an iconic building and location of national significance. The CS&E team is part of the Parliamentary Engagement Branch (PEB) which develops and delivers engaging experiences for parliamentarians, building occupants, visitors, and schools. By forging strong, enduring industry partnerships and respectful internal collaborations, we support the efficient and effective operation of Parliament House to ensure that the public can experience the heart of Australian democracy. Our branch is committed to being a sustainable, efficient, and engaged team that embraces innovation and change to deliver exceptional client focus. The Public Programs Officer will support the CS&E team in the administration, coordination and delivery of Public Programs. The role will support the team to deliver onsite logistical, technical and event support, and contribute to the improvement of administrative systems and processes. The Public Programs Officer works to the Assistant Director, Cultural Strategy and Experience.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support to a high performing team involved in the delivery of events and Public Programs. You will bring organisational and administrative skills, the ability to stay calm under pressure and an understanding of the importance of positive stakeholder relationships. Job Specific Requirements:
Be available to work occasional weekends and after hours in the delivery of events and programs.
Undertake light lifting duties for event set up/pack down, walk and stand on a variety of surfaces.
obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People registration.
The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement
Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 5 Branch: Parliamentary Engagement Branch Section: Cultural Strategy and Experience Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director, Cultural Strategy and Experience
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Support the CS&E team in delivering Public Programs including events, ceremonies, workshops and specialist tours. This includes event administration, coordination, event set up and pack down, and accurate post event record keeping.
2. Create, update, and maintain event planning and operational documentation within agreed timeframes with attention to detail.
3. Create and monitor event booking sites, track RSVPs, respond to queries and produce attendance lists.
4. As part of a commitment to continuous improvement, coordinate event surveys, basic data reporting and process evaluation reports.
5. Under supervision, coordinate small scale activities such as performances and workshops.
6. Collaborate respectfully and productively with diverse external and internal stakeholders including security, property services, visitor engagement and catering teams.
7. Take responsibility for short-term tasks of the work area and contribute to broader strategic planning for longer-term initiatives of the section.
8. Other general administrative duties, including monitoring of section email inbox, as directed and related to these activities.

Salary
Currently, the salary range for this position is $82,824 - $88,858 per annum.
Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
