  • Level 5, full-time appointment on a 12-month fixed term basis with prospect of extension.
  • Base salary range: $76,422 - $84,705 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

With a strong research track record, vibrant campus and working environments, supported by the freedom to innovate and inspire, there is no better time to join Western Australia's top university.About the teamThe Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) is a multi-disciplinary joint venture and University of Western Australia research centre that provides professional education, training and research services to the mining sector in the disciplines of underground, open pit and environmental mining geomechanics. The overall aim of the ACG is to improve mine safety and productivity.The ACG's main activities are applied mining industry research, and the facilitation of continuing education and training through courses and conferences. Technology transfer from research outcomes through publications, training courses and training materials is an important part of the ACG's mandate.About the opportunityAs the appointee you will, under direction of the ACG Senior Publications Officer, be involved in the production of all ACG publications (e.g. event proceedings, reference books, project reports), as well as course materials and multimedia products (e.g. PowerPoint presentations). You will assist with the maintenance of the ACG's Online Repository of Conference Proceedings (papers.acg.uwa.edu.au) and the ACG's websites.The ACG is a dynamic team tasked with a diverse set of activities; thus, effective functioning of the team is important. All team members are, from time to time, required to step out of their comfort zone and assist in different areas of the business as required.About youTo be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with copyediting, proofreading and typesetting of large documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work competently with Word styles, templates, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain websites using WordPress.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a pleasant and confident manner.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of proficiency in common office software (word processing, PowerPoint, databases, spreadsheets, internet, email - preferably Outlook).
  • Sound research skills, thoroughness and attention to detail, willingness to learn new skills and take direction, combined with the ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team.
Desirable:
  • Experience working with referencing styles.
  • Ability to use Adobe InDesign.
