Southcott is on a transformational journey to place the company in a position to double its revenue. This role is required to support the business with timely and appropriate stock procurement requirements. As a key role within the supply chain function, the Purchasing Assistant role supports the business nationally.
The Purchasing Assistant role is best suited to a data & process orientated person who has exceptional organisational & communication skills. They should be passionate about the customer experience and working collaboratively.
What you’ll do
- Timely placement of stock & customer specific orders for all international & key domestic suppliers.
- Communicate order progress, ETAs and any necessary changes to stakeholders.
- Review stock orders and demand levels, making proactive adjustments as needed.
- Coordinate with local warehouses, freight forwarders, and suppliers to resolve discrepancies and ensure closure.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to align stock requirements with production planning.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to facilitate smooth transactions and communication.
- Liaison with freight forwarders for cost effective import solutions.
- Continuously seek process improvements to streamline operations and enhance the customer experience.
- Participate in special projects to continuously improve processes, tools, system and organisation.
- Maintain detailed records to ensure a clear and organised paper trail for all procurement activities, including effective management of email communications and timely responses to inquiries.
To Be Successful, You Will Need:
- A tertiary qualification in purchasing, supply chain, procurement or business.
- At least one year of experience in purchasing and/or logistics preferably within an engineering environment.
- Experience with Pronto software is preferred.
- Strong compliance to process and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- A customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering excellent service.
