The Role
As a Purchasing Officer, you will work closely with the Warehouse, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure the correct stock is kept at all times to meet customer needs. You will also negotiate pricing and manage supplier rebates, ensuring pricing is set competitively within the market.
What you will be doing
- Ensuring the product range is sufficient to meet customer expectations and continually reviewing the range to ensure relevance to the target market and availability in line with demand.
- Maintaining an expediting and internal communications process to expedite back orders from suppliers.
- Managing product pricing updates and communicating appropriately to maximize profitability.
- Assisting the internal sales team with Cyclic Stocktakes.
- Identifying and communicating SLOBs status.
- Raising purchase orders as per demand and/or customer requirements.
- Maintaining processes, policies, and systems and suggesting improvement initiatives in relation to purchasing and expedition of products.
- Managing purchasing spend against a set budget and purchasing logic.
- Working with the Marketing Coordinator on catalogue creation and product specials for the sales floor.
- Ensuring pricing is set competitively within the market.
- Liaising and following up with Sales & Floor Manager about stock orders or gaps in stock on the showroom floor.
What we need from you
- Proven experience in purchasing, showcasing your ability to make informed decisions and negotiate effectively.
- Retail experience, highlighting your understanding of the industry and its unique challenges.
- In-depth product knowledge, allowing you to make informed decisions and provide valuable insights.
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
- A strong drive for results, motivating you to consistently strive for excellence.
- A customer-focused mindset, prioritizing the needs and satisfaction of customers.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, enabling you to find effective solutions to complex challenges.
