Purchasing Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Officer with a leading Steel manufacturer in Wetherill Park, NSW. As a Purchasing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the procurement processes. Your responsibilities will include:

• Sourcing and purchasing raw materials, equipment, and supplies in a cost-effective and timely manner.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and pricing.
• Conducting market research to identify new suppliers and product options.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
• Monitoring inventory levels and optimizing stock levels to minimize waste and reduce costs.
• Tracking market trends to ensure value is optimised for the business.
• Managing the purchasing process, from purchase order creation to delivery and payment processing in coordination with the Procurement Manager.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or similar role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
• A solid understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and inventory control.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and MS Office applications.
• A proactive and results-driven attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
• A relevant degree or certification in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
