ANFE Italian Club (National Association of Migrant Families) is a community centre located just off Commercial Rd, in the Fortitude Valley/Newstead area. During its 42-year history, ANFE Club has opened every week for community recreational activities (bingo, cards, trivia, functions, events) for its members and guests. 

We also operate a fully operational Italian Restaurant/Functions Centre for the local community as well as takeaways through various platforms including its own takeaway meal platform plus UberEats which operates seven days a week so patrons and members can order meals on request.

ANFE is situated in a high-density apartment living area. The club can seat 220 people quite comfortably with a high potential to grow. In late 2024, the club will be moving its operations to a new premises in Stafford.

About the role

ANFE Italian Club is seeking a dynamic full-time qualified Italian chef to work in our kitchen. MUST be specialized in ITALIAN CUISINE & high volume preparations and MUST be able to UNDERSTAND the Italian language which is what our menu is written in - MUST also be fluent in English.

Chef will be required to work Mondays-Sundays (varied) with an immediate start. 

This is a developmental role with room for potential growth e.g. if the chef wishes to look at the opportunity to open every day for lunch or other events, ANFE is very willing to work with the chef to develop and grow the business. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with generating recipes and menus, maximize profitable food revenue.
• Produce and maintain superior standards of Italian food preparation and presentation.
• Ensure Club menus, food standards, procedures and processes; health and safety requirements are followed.
• Provide leadership to all team members to ensure the venue provides a great Italian experience to all our customers.
• Develop, collaborative relationships with the ANFE Management Committee and staff to provide quality food and prompt service to our members, patrons and customers.
• General duties as requested by the Management Committee.
• Train staff to the required level. 

Skills/Experience

The successful applicant will be able to fulfill the following criteria

• Trade qualified: Certificate III plus experience or Diploma/Advanced Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be flexible to work varying hours during the week and weekends
• Demonstrated experience within a similar venue/hospitality environment
• Previous experience in high volume food preparation and high-volume customer environment.
• Must be able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent food hygiene standards
• High standards customer service and exceptional work ethics
• High level of interpersonal, communication and team skills
• Ability to learn and adapt to changing environments
• Professional dress and grooming standards
