The Casino Food Co-op is a leading export food processor with production facilities located in Casino and Booyong, near Lismore, in the Northern Rivers area of the NSW Far North Coast. Since 1933, our Company has established itself as an industry leader in meat processing, providing a unique opportunity for operators to process livestock in world class processing facilities.
As part of a multi-functional team, the purpose of the Quality Assurance Manager is to provide leadership and assurance of The Co-op’s food safety, quality, animal welfare and biosecurity functions. The role will be tasked with ensuring maintenance of trust and integrity in the products and processes to meet customer and legislative expectations.
Some of the key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide assurance that site food safety, quality, animal welfare and biosecurity outcomes are continuously met with respect to legislation, customer standards and internal quality systems.
- Manage and lead, coach and nurture the Food Safety, Quality, Animal Welfare function both directly managing and those requiring influence.
- Promote lead and influence, alongside the management team, a strong food safety culture onsite with full implementation of all corporate expectations.
- Thoroughly analyse, assess and communicate, and where necessary escalate risks in food safety, quality, animal welfare and biosecurity.
- Continued minimisation and mitigation of risk.
- Ensure the site has an up-to-date Quality Management System that is continually reviewed and developed.
- Ensure quality standards, parameters and specifications for all products produced by the Company are provided to production staff and that verification is conducted.
- Assist with onsite visits with major customers.
- Be the lead auditee and manage all on site audits.
- Coordinate and sign off on customer/consumer complaints.
- Maintain the internal audit, “review” programme, ensuring it is robust and preventing and escalating risks.
- Provide full risk assessment and risk management solution in the event of any process deviations.
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in food science or relevant industry experience/ qualifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of HACCP, and Quality/Risk Management Programmes.
- Ability to develop quality procedures, programmes, and product specifications.
- Ability to analyse and present data in a professional manner.
- Experience in training and development.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Commercial acumen.
