Quality & Infection Control Coordinator
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality and Infection Control professional to join our team at Baringa Private Hospital. This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity.
The Opportunity
This role will suit a dynamic, organised, and experienced person to manage our Quality & Infection Control Portfolios across our Hospital. This key Management role works closely with the executive, all department managers and staff to monitor and implement the organisational quality plan, coordinate staff health and manage infection prevention and control program.
You will manage and drive the accreditation process at Baringa, ensuring that all departments are aware of their responsibilities with regard to compliance to the National Safety and Quality in Healthcare Standards (NSQHS). You will also provide direct and indirect support and leadership for all staff related to the prevention and management of risk associated with Infection Control, whilst providing guidance to the hospital executives, and other key stakeholders, in all areas related to the prevention and management of infection.
This position forms an integral part of the senior management team and reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services.
Key Accountabilities include:
Oversight and accountability to the Quality and Infection Control programs at Baringa Private Hospital
Duties/Responsibilities include:
- Support and foster a culture within the organisation that embraces Quality
- Manage and lead the accreditation program
- Oversee collection, management, and evaluation of all clinical indicators
- Investigate and resolve clinical incidents and adverse events
- Work with managers to achieve excellence in care and service delivery
- Co-ordinate and assist in conducting audits to comply with hospital & legislative policies
- Develop & review policies, procedures, systems, and services
- Provide input to the infection prevention and control strategic planning, policy development, surveillance (including National surveillance), auditing program (including Hand Hygiene), outbreak management, and redevelopment project involvement.
You will possess:
- Current Registration with APHRA as a Registered Nurse
- a comprehensive knowledge of the NSQHS National accreditation standards and their application to the private health sector.
- Previous experience in preparation, coordination & participation in hospital accreditation
- Post Graduate Qualification or willingness to undertake formal education in Infection Control practices.
- Proven experience in the development, implementation, and review of policies & procedures to ensure compliance with a high standard of safety and service delivery throughout the organisation
- A strong understanding of the role of Clinical Governance in the private sector
- Strong leadership qualities and excellent time management skills
- Proven ability to work cohesively in a team and independently
- Strong understanding of the principles of Infection Prevention and Control
- High level of verbal and written communication skills including demonstrate ability to provide formal education and discussion within peer groups
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- A relevant Post Graduate qualification related to the area of Quality, Safety and Risk Management, be working towards same or willing to undertake
- Hand Hygiene Gold Standard Auditor Certificate
Baringa Private Hospital is a 78 bed licensed hospital, providing advanced surgery, interventional coronary angiography including the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, orthopaedics, endovascular & general surgery, general medical, rehabilitation, palliative care and mental health.
