Since 1977, Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) has worked to create new futures for vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness aged 12-25 years and their children.
As BYS's Quality Officer, you will working closely with the Quality and Practice Development Manager, providing operational and administrative support to core continuous quality improvement and compliance functions of the Quality, Research and Innovation team
Employment Type: Full-time | 76 hours per fortnight

Selection Criteria:
- Understanding of and commitment to BYS vision, objectives and practice framework
- 2 years+ experience working in the Human Services/Community services’ sector
- Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks in the community sector including the Human Services Quality Framework and the Child Safe Organisation framework [highly desirable]
- Demonstrated experience and confidence in using Quality Management Systems [QMS]
- Demonstrated ability to apply practice experience to the creation, implementation and review of policies, procedures, resources and forms
- Strong organisational and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise and manage competing demands
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively conveying compliance requirements and providing guidance to BYS staff
Education, Qualifications, Requirements [Mandatory]:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field
- Current Queensland driver’s license
- Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card] / willingness to obtain a Blue Card prior to commencement
- National Police Check clearance
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases prior to commencement: Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; and COVID-19
- Three references, including most recent manager, if relevant
Skills & Experience:
- A sound understanding of and ability to research relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines relating to the Human Services/Community sector
- Exposure to human services auditing processes
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and collaboration
- Attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed skills and knowledge of MS Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and the ability to learn new ICT systems

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development, implementation, and administration of the BYS QMS, including user management, document control, incident reporting, and ongoing maintenance of the system to reflect organisational change
- Produce training resources and answer inquiries relating to QMS functionality
- Coordinate and provide administrative support to the Feedback and Complaint management process
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards to enhance the quality, accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of continuous quality improvement cycles at BYS
- Coordinate timely responses to Requests for Information (RFI) in close collaboration with involved programs and the Q&PDM where required
- Monitor the BYS Quality email inbox and action items as required
- Monitor and coordinate organisational processes relating to the regular review, creation and approval of policies and procedures including maintenance of the SharePoint Document Library and associated QMS document register
- Maintain and update quality and practice pages on SharePoint
- Support implementation and compliance with new and existing quality frameworks e.g. Child Safe Organisations, AGPAL; and external audit preparation e.g. HSQF
- Provide administrative support to the Head of Youth Participation, as required, including assisting with the coordination of youth participation activities
- Administer the annual Safeguarding Children and Young People survey, including producing resources and training to support staff understanding of and compliance to the Child Safe Organisations Principles
- Participate in staff training and development activities as required

- Participate in quality practice reviews, all-staff days, organisational planning and identify and participate in training and professional development opportunities
- Protect and promote the rights of children and young people, including making decisions compatible with the Human Rights Act 2019; and responding to and reporting suspicions and disclosures of abuse or harm
- Ensure a healthy and safe workplace for all by adhering to BYS Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Procedures and Practices
- Actively participate to deliver the BYS Reconciliation Action Plan [RAP] initiatives and measurable actions that support First Nations equality across our organisation and services
Administration:
- Undertake all administrative functions relating to the role and ensure accurate and timely records are created and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation and BYS policies
- Collect and maintain accurate, timely client data and contribute to program-specific and organisation-wide monitoring, evaluation and learning activities
