Access the National Relay Service
The successful candidate will facilitate quality management and quality control operations in Microbiology following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of timely quality activities within Microbiology.
- Demonstrated ability to have a collaborative approach with the supervisory team to achieve excellence in quality and ensure continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain quality activities in line with TGA/NATA/ISO accreditation requirements.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including conflict resolution and negotiation competencies.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders and team members and ability to effectively communicate and influence staff.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold at least a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Medical Laboratory Science or a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in microbiology or an equivalent degree qualification.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis B
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
