An innovative and developing business, Aurora Construction Materials is one of Victoria’s leading producers of crushed rock, aggregates and concrete using predominantly recycled materials. An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Quarry Manager with a hands-on approach to become an integral part of our team. Based in Melbourne’s West (Rockbank), the position will be responsible for managing and driving the crushing and screening performance at our integrated Circular Economy Quarry and facility.
What you’ll be doing
Primarily you’ll be conducting the orchestra, ensuring our people and our processes are optimised on a daily basis for maximum performance. You’ll draw on your experience to identify areas for improvement, and create actions to realise continuous improvement. You’ll be in control of your site costs, working to budget and production targets. Above all, you’ll maintain the highest standards of safety at all times. The role also involves working hand-in-hand with our safety, sales, maintenance and finance support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a safe work environment for our staff and contractors
- Assist the quarry team to create a high performance environment
- Execute a strategic plan for production, maintenance, quality and financial success
- Cost responsibility for the quarry, looking for opportunities to optimise production costs whilst maintaining the plant for long term success
- Ensure compliance for statutory, permit and lease requirements
- Manage stock inventory in line with customer requirements and seasonal impacts
- Investigate, resolve and communicate learnings from incidents (safety, quality, customer experience)
Who you are
If you’re excited by building something great, we want to hear from you. Safe operation is second nature to you. You’re experienced in quarry operations, with deep knowledge of fixed plant operation. A proven leader and a great communicator, you can coach operators of mobile equipment. You’re a team player, and willing to share knowledge with our quarry management team and draw from your colleagues’ experiences. You’re not afraid to use initiative and make good, effective decisions.
