Grade 2 (or Grade 1) Radiation Therapist

  • 1 x Full time, Permanent Grade 2 (or 1) RT & 1 x Fixed-term (Maternity Leave Cover) Grade 1 position available
  • Ballarat location, 9 day fortnight
  • $67000 - $101000 base + 10% regional allowance + salary packaging + super
  • 5 weeks Annual leave, and professional development opportunities.

About BAROC:  

Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC) is located within the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) and is operated by Austin Health. Ballarat is a vibrant regional hub offering easy access to Melbourne, surf coast shire beaches and the greater Grampians region. With a growing population, low cost of living, outstanding schools and a vibrant community, Ballarat is an enviable location for your next career move. Our facilities include:

  • 2 x Varian Trilogy Linear accelerators, with online image guidance, 6DoF robotic couch, Respiratory Gating, DIBH and VMAT treatment delivery(Capital replacement in progress, with new Linacs expected for installation in 2024). Dedicated SABR treatment program utilising DCAT treatment delivery.
  • Siemens definition AS 64 CT suite & Elekta planning system.
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) using ARIA 15 Oncology Information System.
  • Integration with a range of affiliated services including Medical Oncology, Clinical Trials, and a Wellness centre offering a broad range of support programs to promote our patient’s health in mind, body and spirit.
  • Remote SXRT service based in Stawell, (local unit installation in 2023, currently being commissioned for clinical use).
  • Strong collaboration with our metropolitan site in Heidelberg, enabling cross-campus support, communication and knowledge sharing.

About the role:

  • Exercise independent professional judgement in achieving optimal solutions for planning and treatment tasks, problem-solving and personal organisation (time management).
  • Demonstrate excellent teamwork abilities, working with the multidisciplinary team towards department goals.
  • Actively contribute to the development of new procedures, embrace new technology, and innovate to promote safe, efficient, and modern service delivery.
  • Demonstrate experience and understanding of the need for continuation of both personal and professional development that leads to the improvement of services and continuum of care for all clients.
  • Follow established radiation safety practices.
  • Current AHPRA Radiation Therapist registration and Victorian use licence.

  • Relocation assistance to be considered upon request. 
  • Eligible new graduates to commence at Gd 1 Year 2 accelerating the pathway to Gd 2.
