This is an exciting opportunity to expand your skillset. You will be given the opportunity to grow, develop and to take on more responsibility. 

You will be working with the Charters and Special Events Coordinator to assist with the planning delivery and execution of Special Service events. The role will have a mixture of administration, planning and operational delivery of Special Services, with supervisor/marshal and driving opportunities available that will require your flexibility in a fast paced and energetic environment utilising your time management, prioritisation, and interpersonal skills.

The Role

This role will report directly to the Charters and Special Events Coordinator and will involve providing direct support to ensure the effective planning, day to day coordination, monitoring, and delivery of bus services for Special Services work. 

The main duties of the role include but are not limited to: 

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • General Administration and use of various software packages, including:
    • Use of Internal Systems such as HIVE and Busways Apps
    • Use of External Systems and reporting such as PTIPS
    • Training will be provided on these systems, with the successful applicant bringing a quick, focused attitude to learning.
  • Assist the Charters and Special Events Coordinator with planning Special Services work, creating Event Plans, as well as compiling information for post event reporting.
  • Ensure Operational readiness of events, coordinating with various internal departments including Scheduling, Depots and Workshop and external parties including TfNSW and Sydney Trains
  • Assisting to roster and manage marshals/supervision for Special Services
  • Assist Service Delivery with identifying Weekend Casual drivers willing to operate Special Services work.
  • Ensure driver fatigue rules and Busways best practice is adhered to
  • Assist OCC with Event knowledge, if required, for diversions and shift allocations
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks and other duties as directed.

About you 

The successful candidate will need to possess the following: 

  • Flexibility to work outside of business hours in the delivery of events and be a backup escalation point to the Charters and Special Events Coordinator
  • Flexibility to assist any live event operations in different capacities such as driving, marshalling and supervision. 
  • Knowledge and experience of Busways Operations, or other Greater Sydney bus operations, working environment and its intricacies and a sound ability to communicate and engage with employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated operational knowledge, including service delivery of Special Services, rostering, incident management and performance management.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, the capacity to successfully deliver high quality outcomes and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain successful relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational and time-management skills
  • Leadership capability, experience and demonstrated capacity to coach others.
  • Creative thinker and proactive problem solver
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and maintain a high degree of confidentiality when dealing with complex matters.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • C-Class license to get to / from depots and Special Services locations.
  • Current Driver Authority and MR or above license is preferred, but not essential to the role.
