Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of Light Rail stops.
The role
Reporting to the Rail Safety Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day safety performance of the business and drive improvements in the safety culture. This will include investigating and reporting incidents and monitoring corrective actions. In addition, you will be on site conducting inspections and risk assessments and escalating any issues relating to health and safety. There will also be the opportunity to drive change and promote a safer workplace culture and environment.
What you bring
In addition to relevant tertiary qualifications (WHS or related), your background will include extensive experience in a similar role. This will be supported with your demonstrated experience in conducting reviews and assessments to identify gaps and areas of opportunities. Given the nature of the role you will have a strong understanding of the Work Health and Safety and Rail Safety legislation and monitoring Safety Management Systems. As well as your collaborative approach you will have strong communication skills which is key to the success of the role.
