Applications are invited for our RANZCOG Accredited Obstetric & Gynaecology Registrar (Advanced Trainee) positions for 2025.

The Women's Health Unit at Peninsula Health is looking to recruit Obstetric and Gynaecology Registrars to join our dynamic and positive team. Peninsula Health has a dynamic Women's Health Unit with a broad range of services. We provide care for around 3000 births per year and have a rapidly growing Gynaecology service which has seen huge gains in surgical training opportunities.

We pride ourselves on a culture of support and mentoring, in addition to a strong collaborative relationship with midwives, nurses, allied health and other specialties. Research opportunities are available on site with statistical and Human Research Ethics Committee support.

Applicants require current medical board Registration, Australian O&G experience of two years or greater and current or provisional accreditation as a basic trainee with the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecology (RANZCOG).

The position is for 12 months commencing from 3 February 2025.
What You Will Be Doing

Successful candidates will be offered:

  • Experience in managing Obstetric and Gynaecologic patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, to suffice the requirements of basic RANZCOG training.
  • Supervision and back up by Consultant Staff with scope to extend to manage patients more independently as experience develops.
  • Regular exposure to supervised Gynaecological operating and ultrasound training.
  • Regular shifts in antenatal & Gynaecology clinics, Gynaecology ward service, pregnancy assessment unit and on Labour Ward (including after hours and night duties)
  • Participation in supervision and teaching of Junior Registrars, HMOs and Medical Students.
  • The opportunity to perform theatre lists independently with supervision, according to experience and credentialing status.
  • Regular teaching and journal club sessions.
  • The opportunity to participate in research and clinical governance activities.

What You Need

  • Obstetric and Gynaecological Experience for minimum of 5 years
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • General, limited or provisional registration as a Medical Practitioner
  • Current accreditation with RANZCOG as a basic or Advanced Trainee; and/or provisional accreditation with RANZCOG to become an Advanced Trainee within 12 months
  • Completion of Clover Clinical systems training at commencement of employment.
  • Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in evidence based women's healthcare.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Teaching skills and research experience
