The Position: RE-VEGETATION OFFICER
Status: Part-time (3 days/24 hours per week)
Salary: $65,156 per annum (full-time equivalent) plus up to 16% Superannuation & additional benefits

The Shire of Denmark is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the Re-vegetation Officer position within the Shire's Infrastructure and Assets Directorate.
About the Opportunity:
Do you have knowledge of our local diverse flora and a passion for the natural environment of Denmark?
The role will ideally suit an experienced, outdoor orientated person who enjoys working with plants, is a team player capable of leading by example with a positive can-do approach to their work and happy to work autonomously. This is a position for a person who thrives in a physical environment and enjoys all aspects of horticultural work.
Some of the duties of this role include:
- Apply best practice advice and implementation in the Rehabilitation of disturbed sites within the Shire, including site planning and preparation, planting, weed control, and other relevant duties
- Providing top quality seeds and seedlings collected from the site to be rehabilitated (provenance), including maintaining and managing stock levels in the Shire Nursery
- Monitoring plant health, identify pests, diseases, and other issues
- Providing budget input ensuring quality re-vegetation materials are delivered
- Delivering customer service with confidence and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills including enhancing relationships with the community
- Working with government departments, schools and the local community to participate in implementing the Shire’s re-vegetation works
- Practicing safe working conditions while performing all tasks, whilst maintaining the safety of the team and the public
About You:
If you have sound knowledge of horticulture as well as an eye for detail, good communication skills, a positive and flexible approach to work and a genuine commitment to getting the best results, this will be a perfect position for you if you:
- Are physically fit and capable of undertaking manual labour
- Possess certificates in operating and maintaining chainsaws and chemical handling/application
- Possess White or Blue card
- Hold a current ‘C’ class drivers licence.
- Ideally hold certification in conservation land management, horticulture and/or nursery training.
