Job description

About Us

Circonomy exists to create a world without waste, including human potential. We’re making circularity the new normal, by mobilising dormant goods through collection, refurbishment, repair and repurposing services while making it easy to shop and procure affordable, sustainable, quality products through our outlets and online channels.

We love what we do, and care a lot – for each other, our customers and our planet. We’re ambitious, and (a little) impatient, motivated by the possibilities but staying grounded in the progress we’re making. We work at pace, because we have no time to waste! (But we don’t cut corners along the way). We are unapologetically agents of change - we’re tackling complex issues that need new solutions – creating, innovating, iterating and enabling.

About the role

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial leader that can play a key role in supporting the growth of our circular solutions in Melbourne, by providing practical, on the ground support that contributes to our purpose of creating a world without waste. As a key member of our Response Squad, the role will require travel to various customer locations, including retail stores, warehouses and offices, where services such as repair, refurbishment and collection will be provided.

The primary purpose of this role is to support our Victorian Refurbishment and Response Squad Manager, by coordinating and implementing the day-to-day operations across Melbourne. Our customers have a diverse range of needs, that are underpinned by the core principals of the circular economy, with a focus on designing out waste and keeping products and materials in use for longer. You will assess and collect items, such as customer returns or damaged products that may otherwise be sent to landfill, repairing or refurbishing them to a new, or as-new, condition. In addition, helping customers that are looking to purchase affordable, quality and sustainable products by supporting the re-commerce operations out of the Melbourne warehouse.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Australia’s circular economy, by providing hands-on solutions that deliver commercial and environmental benefits to Circonomy’s partners. At the same time, contributing to the growth of one of Australia’s most unique and innovative social enterprises.

What we’re looking for

A passionate leader with a shared purpose to create a better future, that thrives with being hands-on for the small jobs in order to achieve the bigger picture. You use your creative mindset, and entrepreneurial spirit, to find practical solutions that contribute to shared success of our team and the partners we work with. Your motivated by the idea of fixing things to keep them in use for longer and reduce what may otherwise go to landfill!

You love working with people, and have experience working in retail, bringing transferable customer service skills and product knowledge. You’re not afraid to assemble some flat pack, identify missing parts, drive a van to visit various customer locations, or pick and deliver orders for customers that shop with Circonomy online.

Your someone that thrives in a fast-pace environment where no two days are ever the same, demonstrating agility and flexibility that helps navigate the opportunities that a unique, innovative and first-of-its kind business brings, using your customer mindset, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to contribute to and execute on our ambitious growth strategy.

You are excited about the opportunity to grow our repair and refurbishment services, and help some of Australia’s largest businesses reduce their environmental footprint and embrace all of the benefits that a truly circular economy can bring. You see the possibilities for the future, and the career development this brings, and are eager to be hands on as we create a world without waste.

This is a permanent full-time or part-time role based in Melbourne. If it doesn’t quite fit what you’re after, let us know – we’re about finding the right person and finding a way to make it work for you!

What’s on offer

• A people-first and purpose-led culture, that values diversity, inclusivity and flexibility

• Competitive remuneration

• Ongoing training and development opportunities to progress and evolve your career

• Generous product discounts across an always changing product mix

• A commitment to providing a great employee experience in a high performing team

So, are you ready for the challenge?

National challenges need national solutions. We are a start-up that is scaling up, powered by a purpose-driven team, working with leading corporates, backed by values-aligned investors, and endorsed daily by increasingly conscious consumers.

As a registered social enterprise, we’re building a truly diverse, inclusive and caring workplace by creating employment opportunities for people of all-abilities.

We’re building an amazing team, and there’s no time to waste!
