Your new role
Reporting to the CFO with a dotted line to the NSW State Manager who is based at Somersby and with one direct report, you will act as a dedicated controller and trusted business partner for the NSW business. You will provide meaningful and timely financial information to aid decision making, identifying gaps in internal controls to continually improve processes.
In detail
- Manage the monthly financial close and analysis of the state businesses including the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, forecasting, variance analysis and accruals as per reporting timetables, with close liaison with the State Manager
- Assist the State Manager and state leadership team to manage the business according to budgets and strategic objectives
- Compile the annual budget as per reporting timetables
- Ensure the fixed asset registers are maintained accurately and in a timely manner
- Control the monthly stock take process of finished goods and raw materials, with any variances/adjustments investigated fully in a timely manner
- Manage and maintain bills of materials and prepare/process BOM recostings
- Assist the external auditors with any region-specific queries or requests
- Assist the State Manager and leadership team with financial input on projects and reporting. Attendance and contribution at weekly/monthly site meetings is required
- Share best practices across the group such as process improvements, financial modelling, and procedure changes
- Assist the Group Controller and CFO with any national projects/process improvements
- Ensure the Accounts Payable function is performed as per national standards and all supplier invoices are captured, reconciled, and paid as per due dates
- Provide effective management of the Accounts payable Officer, ensuring regular 1:1’s are held and documented, with clear work instructions and objectives set each year
What you'll need to succeed
This is a key role in the team so it is essential that you can demonstrate success in a similar role where you have gained experience in standard costing or activity-based costing; you need to be familiar with bills of materials and inventory including stocktaking and revaluations.Essential to this role is your ability to form strong relationships with non-finance people as well as the ability to deliver financial information and reasoning that is easy to understand and that adds value.
You are someone who is determined to meet deadlines and someone who can demonstrate a high level of analytical, problem solving and decision making skills. You communicate at the highest level and you are someone who takes pride in everything that you do.
Selection criteria
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA, CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent)
Experience:
- Recent experience in a finance role exposed to activity based/standard costing industry
- Recent experience working in a similar controller/business partner/management accountant role
- Exposure to industrial manufacturing processes with precast concrete experience advantageous
