MIDDAY ON FRIDAY, 31 MAY 2024Job DescriptionUnder minimal direction from (Level 6) or reporting to (Level 7) the Regional Manager:Working in close collaboration with the Aboriginal Engagement, Planning and Lands Branch, is responsible for:

  • Aboriginal engagement and Joint Management in the Pilbara Region.
  • Negotiating Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUA) and Joint Management Agreements, coordinating meetings with traditional owners and other stakeholders and contributing to the development of guidelines and standards for Joint Management and traditional owner engagement.
  • Liaising with other relevant departmental staff (e.g. Parks and Visitor Services) and government agencies to progress negotiations for park creation and Joint Management;
  • Developing regional communication strategies for ILUA and Joint Management negotiations.
  • Identifying issues emerging from Joint Management and initiating development of solutions which help maintain consistency and continued momentum of Joint Management in the region.
Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total. * Extensive (Level 7) or considerable (Level 6) knowledge and experience in engaging,communicating, liaising and working successfully with traditional owners to deliver land and cultural heritage management aspirations and goals through Joint Management, cooperation, or collaborative arrangements.
  • Extensive (Level 7) or considerable (Level 6) experience in project management, and in researching and applying knowledge to protect and conserve traditional owner heritage and culture.
  • Evidence of high level (Level 7) or well-developed (Level 6) oral communication and interpersonal skills and considerable (Level 7) or demonstrated (Level 6) experience in developing and maintaining successful strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and other interest groups, with evidence at Level 7 of ability to analyse, resolve and respond to complex and detailed issues and effectively communicate at a range of levels.
