The Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) Emergency Department (ED) is one of South Australia's largest and busiest tertiary ED's in the state. Offering 24/7 care for a variety of presentations including major multi-trauma and life threatening medical emergencies, FMC ED is also the obstetric trauma centre for South Australia and a designated state trauma centre.
The department has a strong educational framework to assist in progressing staff through the variety of roles - such as resuscitation, triage and shift coordinator, which is tailored to the experience new staff members bring with them. Currently there are 300+ nurses employed at FMC and we are seeking passionate, resilient and care centric Registered & Enrolled Nurses to join the team.
About the Role:
As the Registered or Enrolled Nurse, your duties may include:
- Assessing individual patient needs, plan, implement and coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies
- Providing direct person-centred nursing care and individual case management to patients on a shift by shift basis in a defined clinical area with increasing autonomy over time.
- Providing health promotion and education, to patients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual.
- Supporting nursing practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff and preceptorship of graduates.
About you:
- Available to work earlies, lates, and nights across a 7 day roster
- Possess effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment and be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a emergency healthcare setting.
- The ability to prioritise workload and demonstrated commitment to providing consumer/client and family centred care.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current practicing certificate
- A minimum of 12 months experience in Acute Care
