The role

The Registered Midwife:

• Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women, their families and other health professionals.

Maternity Services, Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)

• The RHH is the tertiary referral centre for Tasmania, we have around 2000 births each year.
• Our graduate program will give you the opportunity to consolidate your knowledge across antenatal clinic, antenatal inpatient cares, pregnancy assessment, labour and birth, inpatient postanal cares, community based postnatal cares and lactation services.
• Opportunity to work within and learn from a dynamic multidisciplinary team that is passionate about supporting early career midwives.

Details of Appointment

Multiple, fixed term, part time, shift-worker (fully rotational) positions available in the Graduate Midwifery Program working 64 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for six (6) months. 

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

• Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: 

$75,902 to $102,908 pro-rata per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum 
• Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife
• Current Working with Children Registration

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

1. crimes of violence
2. sex related offences
3. serious drug offences
4. crimes involving dishonesty

1. Identification check
2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
