The role:
The Registered Nurse - Student Midwife:
- Consistent with ongoing experience, strengthens health outcomes through the provision of quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women and their families/significant others and other health professionals while undertaking study that will lead to registration as a midwife.

Women's and Children's Services:
- Paid clinical placement for post-graduate student midwives.
- Supportive environment in Women's and Children's Services, including Clinical Midwifery Educators and Preceptors.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term, part time, shift-worker (fully rotational) position working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from 15 July 2024 for a period of 12 months.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary:
$75,902 to $102,908 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Confirmation of enrolment in a midwifery course accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- serious traffic offences
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
