Youth Counsellor- contract position- Mandurah location!

We are seeking a youth counsellor on a contract basis until December 2024 to join a leading provider in youth mental health support services with possibility to extend thereafter. The organization prides itself on supporting young people aged 12-25, supporting them to thrive in their community.

Responsibilities are including but not limited to:

• Provide counselling support to young people and their families showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and/or self harm
• Facilitate individual and group counselling services via outreach and telehealth to young people and their families
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
• Maintain thorough knowledge of mental health resources for youths and work in partnership with these services
• Travel to affiliated centres on occasion for counselling within the company framework

Essential requirements:

• Tertiary level qualifications in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, clinical counselling or mental health nursing
• Relevant professional registration with AHPRA / AASW / ACA
• At least 3 years’ experience working with young people at risk of suicide, depression and self-harm
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in conducting risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk
• Experience in developing safety plans, follow-up support and referral for treatment
• C class driving license and access to a reliable vehicle
