Quambie Park Waroona is currently seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Nurses to join our team provided exceptional care to our residents at our facility in Waroona.
Must be able to work the following shifts:
Day Shift: 0600 - 1415
Afternoon Shift: 1330 - 2200
Night Shift: 2130 - 0615
Also Weekends and Public Holidays where required.
Purpose
The primary purpose of the Registered Nurse position at Quambie Park Waroona Inc is to ensure the well-being, comfort, and safety of our elderly residents in an aged care setting. Registered Nurses play a pivotal role in providing essential personal care, administering medications, supervising staff, and monitoring the floor for issues, all while adhering to the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and empathy.
Your extensive nursing experience will be leveraged to provide clinical care, while your leadership skills will be vital in training and guiding junior staff. This position offers an opportunity to make a profound impact on resident care and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
- Provide clinical care to residents with complex medical needs, including wound care, medication management, and pain management.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and specialists to develop and implement specialised care plans.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and regularly reassess residents to ensure personalised and effective care.
Personal Care:
- Ensure residents receive compassionate and dignified personal care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Oversee and guide staff in providing respectful and individualised personal care, promoting residents' independence and well-being.
- Collaborate with the care team to create care plans that address residents' unique personal care needs.
Supervision and Quality Assurance:
- Supervise and oversee Enrolled Nurses, and Personal Care Workers ensuring that care delivery meets the highest standards of excellence.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, conducting audits, and implementing improvement initiatives to enhance resident care.
- Play a key role in infection control, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety within the facility.
Training and Staff Development:
- Lead in the orientation and training of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Personal Care Workers
- Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and hands-on sessions to enhance the clinical skills and knowledge of staff members.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, offering guidance and support to junior nurses and ensuring adherence to best practices and facility policies.
Medication Management and Safety:
- Administer medications, including high-risk and complex medications, adhering to stringent safety protocols.
- Conduct regular medication audits and provide education to staff on proper medication administration techniques.
- Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and promptly address any discrepancies.
Clinical Leadership and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to provide holistic care to residents.
- Lead clinical rounds and case conferences to discuss resident progress, assess care plans, and make necessary adjustments.
- Serve as a role model for evidence-based practice and ethical nursing care.
Handover Duties:
- Facilitate effective and comprehensive handovers during shift changes, ensuring all critical resident information, care plans, and special instructions are communicated to the oncoming nursing staff.
- Participate in multidisciplinary handover meetings to ensure a seamless transition of care and address any concerns or changes in residents' conditions.
Floor Monitoring and Accountability:
- Monitor the floor continuously to identify issues, assess staffing needs, and ensure the smooth operation of resident care.
- Take accountability for the entire team's performance, addressing any challenges, conflicts, or deviations from established protocols promptly.
- Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability within the nursing staff.
Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
- Lead emergency response efforts and crisis management situations, ensuring residents' safety and coordinating with external agencies as needed.
