Dungog Community Hospital / Wonarua Country
Where you'll be working:

  • Dungog Community Hospital (DCH), is a remote rural hospital providing emergency, medical, slow stream rehabilitation and enablement, end of life care and low acuity post-surgical care. There is limited on-site diagnostic services including radiology, physiotherapy, ultrasound and pathology, and access to onsite allied health outreach services and community health clinics (Maternal & Child Health, Women’s Health, Podiatry and Chiropractor), Aboriginal and Multi-cultural Liaison Health Officers.
  • Currently there are 12 inpatient beds, 4 ED trolleys (including one resuscitation bed) and 1 cot. Please note that currently Dungog Hospital is funded for 8 acute inpatient beds. In times of need the 4 surge beds may become operational. Prior to opening surge beds Site Manager (in office hours) or executive on call (outside office hours) needs to be notified and appropriate staffing for the next shift organised.
  • Dungog Hospital provides services to the 8,700 residents of Dungog, as well as the outlying areas such as Vacy, Clarence Town, and Gresford etc. The hospital is located 45 minutes away from Maitland Hospital and 1.5hrs away from John Hunter Hospital. The hospital admits approximately 500 patients per annum – with the majority being 75 years and older.
  • Dungog Community Hospital was established in 1892 and celebrated its centenary in 1992. The Hospital has recently had an upgrade to the emergency department and the general ward.
  • The staff at Dungog Hospital are friendly and supportive, have extensive skills and knowledge - and they are keen to share their experience through mentoring and support.
About the role:
  • We are seeking Registered Nurses to work across the rural facility including the general inpatient unit and the Emergency Department
  • You will receive access to rural orientation both virtual and in person with the CNE and have access to continued professional development.
About you:
  • You will have the ability to work In Charge of Facility or working towards same.
  • You have current ETEK and ALS.

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
