Registered Nurse- Clinical Trials Nurse
Breast Cancer Research Centre WA (BCRC-WA), is a world leader and is one of the most highly regarded breast cancer Clinical Trials unit in Australia, located in newly furbished offices at Hollywood Private Hospital.
The centre, founded by Professor Arlene Chan, in 2000, is recognised globally for its ground-breaking breast cancer research. To date, at least 13 BCRC-WA trials have improved the way metastatic breast cancer is treated internationally.

What we are offering the successful candidate:
- Full time
- Monday to Friday 9-5pm flexibility of working hours is needed at times.

As a Registered Nurse you will work as part of the research team and will review breast cancer patients undergoing cancer treatment to assess:
- side effects of treatment
- compliance to oral cancer therapy drugs
You will be required to administer intramuscular and subcutaneous therapies, however phlebotomy skills or proficiency in the administration of intravenous therapy is not a requirement.
The Registered Nurses’ responsibilities include:
- Conduct patient consultations:
- record medical history,
- perform clinical assessments,
- assess side effects to cancer treatments, record vital signs,
- perform ECGs, review diagnostic test results,
- administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections
- document patient medications
- Liaise with patients, the BCRC-WA trials team, study sponsors and other health care professionals
- Ensure trial eligibility criteria is met and protocols are followed
- Act as the clinical resource person for patients, doctors, the research team and other
- Have insight to anticipate potential concerns and have the ability to troubleshoot and
- resolve them.
- Work efficiently, accurately, and autonomously while delivering high standards of nursing care.
- Implement a problem-solving approach to clinical research and patient care
- Ensure high standards of documentation are maintained according to regulatory guidelines.
- Provide education and support to patients and families
What we need from you
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or Diploma of Nursing
- Recent Clinical Experience
- Minimum 48 months’ work experience as a nurse
- Current APRHA registration
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work with minimal direction and as an effective team member
- Australian Permanent Residency /Citizenship
Desirable
- Previous experience in Oncology
- Prior experience in Clinical Trials.
- Good computer skill especially, emails, excel and word will be very beneficial in this role.
- ICH-GCP certificate of training
