About the Role
Join our team as a Registered Nurse on a full time or part time basis, until May 2025, in Canopy Ward at Monash Children’s Hospital.
We currently have 12 month fixed-term positions, commencing in May 2024, for highly dedicated oncology nurses. These positions will be 'oncology preferred', meaning your primary role will be to care for our Oncology/Haematology patient cohort in the ward. This is the first time such an opportunity has been on offer and is a great opportunity to bring your Paediatric or Adult oncology experience into Canopy!
Your day will be varied, and multitasking and prioritisation are some of your key strengths that will see you excel in this role. You will work within a large multidisciplinary team with the sole purpose of delivering exceptional paediatric care at all times to our patients and their families. With your caring, passionate, and engaging manner, you will play a key role in leading by example within a patient-centric and family-friendly environment. You will have the chance to gain experience in high flow, chemotherapy, seizure management, and electrolyte management, among many other skills.
About Us
Ward 4a Canopy is a 32-bed General and Specialist Medical, Respiratory, and Oncology Unit in Monash Children’s Hospital. We care for children from 2 weeks to 19 years of age who present with varied conditions and acuities, and we have a balance of short and long-term admissions. Our nurses have the opportunity to practice across General Medicine, but also to gain specialist Oncology and Chemotherapy nursing skills in a team-based model of care.
About You
We are looking for nurses who are dedicated to paediatric oncology nursing and understand the importance of family centred care. You will be someone who advocates for your patients and their families and you are excited by the variety of patient presentations you will see in our ward. You will be someone who:
- Has Oncology experience in either Adult or Paediatric nursing, and who can confidently administer chemotherapy
- Loves to learn and further your skills while also sharing your knowledge with those around you
- Thrives in an environment that is busy yet varied each day
- Understands the importance of team work and enjoy working collaboratively in order to provide the best care to your patients
- Must be able to work across a 24/7 rotational roster of AM, PM and Night Duty
