About the role
Our service is delivered by specialist orthopaedic consultants and surgeons who are also supported by a skilled team of medical, nursing, and allied health staff. 5F Orthopaedics' goal is to provide high quality, comprehensive clinical management for our orthopaedic patients in a professional multi-disciplinary environment. The department has a high multidisciplinary focus with dedicated physiotherapists, occupational therapists and an orthogeriatric team attached to our unit. We aim to provide you with both an exceptional education and a rewarding work experience. We also strive to support, encourage and develop all staff who work within the service ensuring a culture of learning resulting in a capable and educated nursing workforce.
The unit also provides general surgical and sub-specialty services on an as needed basis. You can expect to see patients with a wide range of acute and chronic orthopaedic conditions (e.g hands, shoulders, lower limbs, foot, and ankle) and extend your knowledge about orthopaedic surgery including hip and knee replacements.
The Registered Nurse, Orthopaedics, provides contemporary, evidence-based nursing services and demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by achievement of the standards of practice and registration requirements from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This is evidenced by educational preparation, continuing professional development, adhering to relevant legislation and the context of care.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Contemporary clinical knowledge in the area of orthopaedic nursing, delivering competent nursing care in complex situations while providing support to other team members.
- Ability to communicate to a high standard effectively and engage with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors whilst displaying a high level of professional nursing care.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Ability to provide patient and family centred care to the patient using best practice and within the professional standards of a Registered Nurse.
