About The Palliative Care program
Operates from Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre, located only minutes from the centre of Geelong. It is situated on a vibrant community asset with parkland surrounds and incorporates state of the art equipment. The program provides Palliative Care nursing, medical, allied health and volunteer services integrating community, inpatient as well as an acute consultative service. The model of Palliative Care is based on level of need and targets patients with complex care needs.
The Pal At Home service provides 24-hour care by nurses visiting patients over 3 shifts with clinical oversight by Palliative Care Nurse Consultants and a Palliative Care Physician.
About the role
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide holistic Palliative Care nursing to people who have complex care needs as a result of experiencing a life limiting illness where the primary treatment goal is quality of life. This care will be provided in the consumer’s home and will place a high emphasis on carer support.
The successful applicant will be required to work morning, evening and nights shifts as well as weekends.
