About you
You are an RN1 with more than 3 years’ experience in Aged Care (Acute Care experience will be considered) who wants to take the next step up to a role that provides After Hours support across the organization. You will be a good communicator with confident clinical judgement skills and problem-solving abilities in crisis situations.
Your new role
We are currently seeking an After Hours RN1 who will provide support and advice for Supervisors at our Hostel sites. You will be required to attend different Aged Care Homes dependent on the needs of residents and support staff in the provision of clinical care. You will also provide afterhours clinical support for all residential services across Wintringham and assist with urgent operational matters. As a key ‘go to’ person for staff, you will have an excellent understanding of current best practice guidelines and be confident in providing clinical and operational advice and guidance.
Your Part time roster will be covering the below after-hours periods:
Week 1 : Monday and Sunday (2200 – 0730)
Week 2 : Wednesday (2200 – 0730)
Your responsibilities and duties will include (but aren’t limited to):
- Provision of clinical and behavioral support advice and consultation for our Home’s supervisors across the organisation, including detailed record keeping of advice provided and goals in line with Wintringham policies and procedures.
- Provide hands on assessment and guidance at relevant sites for residents that are identified as requiring prompt assessment.
- Assist the site to provide complex nursing care as required. E.g., Palliation
- Provide support for critical incidents and escalate where required
- Operate as the Infection Prevention and Control Lead After Hours.
- Ensure all assessment, communication and documentation processes have been completed for Priority 1 reportable incidents that occur After Hours.
- Provide support to Hostel site Supervisors to fulfil their supervision responsibilities to all direct care nursing and care staff to ensure they fulfil the requirements of their position descriptions

What we need from you:
The successful applicant must be a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with at least 3 years experience in Aged Care Previous experience in a supervisory capacity and a good working knowledge of Aged Care and NDIS quality standards would be an advantage. Applicants with knowledge of alcohol dependence and associated behaviours and experience in complex mental illness will be looked on favorably. These will be supported by your:
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Excellent communication skills
- A keen eye for detail
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to improve practices in order to provide the safest possible service to our clients.
- Current drivers license
