What you'll be doing:
Our Opioid Treatment Program is seeking a qualified and highly reliable Registered Nurse to join the team on a Permanent Full Time assignment. This role will be based in the Blue Mountains and Lithgow OTP Clinics.
The Registered Nurse will provide a high level of case management to patients of the service, including the administration of methadone and buprenorphine and Buprenorphine/Naloxone in accordance with the NSW Poisons Act (1966). This position will work collaboratively with relevant members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of nursing care within the unit. The role will aim to provide safe and effective patient-centred nursing care to the patients/clients and carers of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection Criteria to be Addressed: * Current Nursing Registration (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Demonstrated experience and clinical skills in Acute Medical / Mental Health Nursing as a Registered Nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse) and a keen interest to learn and gain experience in Drug and Alcohol.
  • Demonstrated awareness of Drug and Alcohol dependence issues and Opioid Treatment Programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multi-disiplinary team including Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Community staff as well as General Practitioners, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to identify and resolve conflict situations by managing own emotional responses and interacting with others in a personable and professional manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible roster, day or evening shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements.
  • Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
