Job description

The Registrar provides skilled management and leadership in the operation of the Qld Courts Service registry including achieving success in resource management, community engagement and service improvement. The role also supports the judiciary in the delivery of Justice and ensures that the appropriate efficient processes and systems are in place to deliver equitable services to all court users.
The Registrar of Southport is responsible for providing high level management and leadership in the operation of the Magistrates court registry, including the capability and development of a highly skilled team of staff and the effective use of registry resources.
This is a leadership position which is responsible for supporting innovation, performance, planning and advancing reforms as well as effectively engaging with courts’ users and partners of the court. This position engages

Key responsibilities
As Registrar you will:

  • Provide strong effective leadership of the Southport Courthouse.
  • Foster and drive a culture of excellence in service delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with judicial officers, courts' users, community groups and stakeholders to provide effective service delivery and support.
  • Develop strategies to improve the understanding of the justice system with the local community that achieve agreed outcomes and assist peoples from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Provide the local community with information about programs, services, and products across the whole of government.
  • Undertake successful financial, human resource, data, and risk management practices.
  • Maintain effective workforce planning, performance management, staff development and mentoring frameworks within the registry delivering Queensland Court Service strategic and operational goals.
  • Perform statutory duties of Justice of the Peace, Clerk of the Court and Registrar as required.
  • Represent the department on committees and at meetings.
  • Any other reasonable duties as delegated by the Senior Registrar.
