About the Role:
Are you as passionate about rehabilitation as we are?
We are recruiting for our Rehabilitation team and seek an experienced Botanist/Ecologist to be based at our Huntly mine operations, locally based in the Peel Region.
Reporting to the Rehabilitation Monitoring & Handback Superintendent, you will you will play an integral role in providing detailed analysis, specialised ecological and spatial technical advice and problem solving whilst also undertaking project management support to drive execution of all rehabilitation abiotic and biotic monitoring programs to meet Completion Criteria for Alcoa’s WA Mining’s Rehabilitation Estate.
Additionally, you will assist in the compilation and analysis of rehabilitation monitoring data for Final Submission Reports to support handback of rehabilitation to the State.
This is a local position with the added benefit of being able to drive home at the end of your working day!

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Experience in flora and/or fauna assessments.
A degree/post-graduate qualification in environmental science, ecology or botany.
Experience with ArcGIS pro or equivalent to undertake spatial analysis of environmental datasets.
Project coordination and management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in botanical databases, using python to automate data flows.
Experience in Northern Jarrah Forest species.
Experience in using remote sensing techniques to measure the health or landuse changes of the natural environment.
About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia and it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
