Address The Religious Assistant role is one in which an experienced career missionary within Youth With A Mission (YWAM) working alongside other elders is able to edify, teach and support our community, comprising of staff and students in adhering to the Biblical tenets of our Christian faith and the values of our organisation.
All tasks are in relation to assisting our faith-based community members to recognise and respond to the Biblical teachings of Jesus in a missional way.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with services of public worship, prayer and acknowledgments of faith.
- Assist with the delivery of sermons, devotionals and special talks.
- Assist with classes of religious instruction in our Discipleship Training School (DTS), School of Worship and Prayer (SWAP), Certificate IV in Christian Missions “Ministry Development School (MDS), and Diploma in Christian Ministry Leadership “Leadership Development School” (LDS)
- Assist with prayer and discussion groups, retreats, and seminars.
- Oversee Religious Instruction in all Training Departments on the centre.
- Maintain Vision and Values of the YWAM centre.
- Lead management committee in financial and policy related decisions.
- Oversee operational tasks of the centre.
- Delegate roles and responsibilities of staff.
- Participate in the social and welfare activities of the community, encouraging people to be aware of their responsibilities, and organising participation in community projects.
- Visiting members of the community in their homes, hospitals and other venues to provide advice and religious comfort.
- Attend Local, National and International Youth With A Mission gatherings with younger members for their engagement and personal development.
- Maintain an ongoing lifestyle of evangelism, worship and prayer through day-to-day contacts and welfare activities.
- Continued development of one’s personal relationship with God.
- Keeping records as required.
- Embracing active participation in weekly prayer, worship, intercession and corporate YWAM community functions.
- Spiritual leadership through appointed role, but also in day-to-day function in the organisation.
- Leadership, pastoral supervision, and administrative functions in the capacity of staff team
- Leader on the School of Worship and Prayer (SWAP), giving religious instruction and direction in order to fulfil the purposes of the SWAP course:
- To teach and inductive Bible Study method whereby students then use the principles of observation, interpretation, and application to study the 66 books ofScripture in 9 months.
- To inspire and cultivate growth in one's relationship with God resulting in Christ like character, which is based on a solid Biblical foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit and the personal application of Biblical truth, especially concerning God's Character, the Cross and empowering Grace.
- To sharpen one's ability to relate to, learn from and work with people, including those of different cultures, personalities and perspectives.
- To equip students to become teachers of the inductive method and be able to teach it themselves. To become worship leaders and equip others.
- To impart the vision and foundational values of Youth With A Mission International as well as that of the host operating location and to provide information regarding a variety of opportunities for service.
- Leading the Diploma in Christian Leadership (Leadership Development School) and creating course content
- Prayer and Worship Ministry, Local, National, and International teaching, preaching and leading prayer ministry in churches.
- Teaching at Youth With A Mission centres nationally in Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) and Schools of Worship and Prayer (SWAP)
