About our YCM Graduate Programme – Melbourne

  • Full-time Graduate position 
  • 18-month rotation programme through Equities, Fixed Income, and ESG 
  • Mentorship

The YCM Graduate Programme consists of an 18-month rotation programme within our investment departments commencing early 2025. The Graduate will rotate between the Equities, Fixed Income and ESG teams spending 6 months in each department. At the end of the programme, you will be place in an analyst role within an investment team based on business needs, taking into consideration your preferences. 

During the programme, you will become a core member of the investment team, will be mentored by seasoned investment professionals, and have exposure to senior leaders within the business. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain broad understanding of day-to-day investment management during each rotation
  • Work with the investment teams to provide insightful investment research and analysis, conducting industry and detailed company research
  • Undertake research, analysis and reports on specific investments and assist with preparation of regular reporting for investment meetings
  • Building and maintaining financial models and databases
  • Cultivate senior contacts within industry, with close exposure to CEO/CFO level executives
  • Assist in developing models and preparing reports for existing portfolios
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to identify key opportunities, themes and strategies
  • Collaborate with the wider Investment team as well as other internal and external stakeholders on cross-functional projects

The Graduate would also join the Yarra Emerging Leaders Programme (YELP) which is an analyst lead programme where Investment Analysts from across the business attend formal learning sessions and participate in team building offsite events.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual who has a well-developed interest in financial markets. The successful applicant will be confident and curious by nature, have a passion for the financial markets, and will have a positive approach which will enable them to make the most of the opportunity. The successful applicant will be in their final year of studies (undergraduate or postgraduate) or have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate within the last 3 years within a relevant discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Keen interest in financial markets and ability to identify key market drivers
  • Strong problem-solving skills; comfortable tackling complex problems and breaking these down into manageable pieces
  • Able to work independently, and as a team
  • Excellent research skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Must be self-reliant with a willingness to learn and accept new challenges
