Research Assistant

About us:
The ICU Research Team participates in a large number of local and Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society Clinical Trials Group (ANZICS-CTG) endorsed trials. Staff co-authored > 150 peer reviewed publications during 2018, including publications in high impact journals, e.g. four manuscripts in the New England Journal of Medicine, one in JAMA and one in Lancet Respiratory Medicine.
Clinical research at Melbourne Health is embedded within the ICU, which provides high quality and multi-disciplinary care and is a recognised leader in the provision of tertiary/quaternary level care to critically ill patients. The ICU relocated to a new facility in May/2016. Currently the ICU admits more than 2500 patients per year with a diverse range of conditions.
Your opportunity:
- Coordinate and facilitate research studies within the ICU
- Assist with the preparation and submission of applications to research committees and bodies
- Manage registration of trials
- Accurately collect and store study data
- Collect, processe and store blood and other samples in accordance with protocol
- Assist with the preparation of presentation material to promote research
About you:
The role is ideally suited to a recent biomedical/science honours graduate with experience in studies using quantitative data who has ambition to study post-graduate medicine (MD) and/or a higher research degree (PhD) and desires the opportunity to work within an internationally-recognised clinical research team
