We are seeking a Research Coordinator to join our Academic Operations Unit at Swinburne University playing a key role in facilitating research-related activities to support the delivery of research outcomes across the Schools of Engineering and Science, Computing and Engineering Technologies.
As a Research Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting research staff in the preparation of milestone invoicing, funds checking for grant appointments, and meeting other internal and external requirements. You will also be responsible for providing a wide range of research administration in assisting PhD students and others as determined by funding bodies or external parties.
The Research Coordinator reports to the Manager, Research Services or the Associate Director, Academic Services in the absence of a Manager, Research Services. This is to ensure consistency of administrative practices, working closely with Schools' Associate Deans Research and a range of research-active staff in the Schools. You can expect to work across the Schools on university-wide and Academic Operations Unit wide initiatives from time to time.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate, liaise and work with people at all levels, both internal and external to the University with tact, maturity and appreciation of sensitive issues.
- Highly proficient computer skills, in particular MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, data management systems and database applications.
- Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies, strategies and procedures within a complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience in financial administration.
- Experience in research or contract administration, compliance and relevant processes is preferred.
- Completion of a bachelor's degree with extensive relevant executive administration experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
