About the Agency

The Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) is responsible for national digital health services and systems, with a focus on engagement, innovation and clinical quality and safety. Our focus is on putting data and technology safely to work for patients, consumers and the health care professionals who look after them.

About the Division

Digital Solutions overview – The Digital Solutions Division is responsible for national digital health architecture, conformance, data, design, products, standards and for supporting the user design principles that underpin all the Agency’s products and services.

About the Role

The Agency are currently recruiting for a Research and Evaluation Specialist (APS5) to join our team on a Full-time non-ongoing contract for 12 months. Reporting to the Senior Research Specialist (Research, Evaluation & Statistics), the Research & Evaluation Specialist is responsible for the design, development and implementation of methodologies that convey accurate and true representations of user attitudes, knowledge and behaviours; and to evaluate the impact of our digital health ecosystem.

Key outcomes of this role are:

  • Timely, accurate and collaborative management of impact evaluation projects to support Agency goals.
  • Design, development and implementation of research and evaluation methodologies for impact evaluation using online quantitative and qualitative techniques as well as in-person and in-situ studies using the Agency’s Experience Centre.
  • Support the Senior Research Specialist (Research, Evaluation & Statistics) to champion evaluation and performance surveillance throughout the Agency.

This role is required to undertake work that is complex in nature, working under limited direction with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability. Employees at this level exercise both initiative and judgment in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. APS5 employees provide detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice. This role may assist in strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. Within this role you may have a considerable level of public contact in relation to difficult or sensitive issues and may liaise with a range of stakeholders in a representational role. Work may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows.

Skills and Experience

The following Knowledge, Skills and Experience will be super beneficial to hit the ground running in this role:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant health, research, or analytics discipline with associated experience.
  • You will have exposure to research and evaluation design, development and implementation for policy reform.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management to achieve project or operational objectives, with the ability to anticipate stakeholders needs and expectations.
  • Clear verbal, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely across technology and business teams. 
  • Capable of working independently, with minimal guidance, while adhering to established priorities, practices, and methodologies to deliver high-quality results.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required by the Agency.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain national police check.
  • Australian Citizenship is a condition of eligibility.
