About the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction

The National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA) is an internationally recognised Research Centre that works as a catalyst for change in the alcohol and other drugs field. A collaborative venture between Flinders University and the Australian Government Department of Health, NCETA is located within the College of Medicine and Public Health and is part of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) at Flinders University in South Australia. NCETA is a key national research centre in the alcohol and other drug field. The Centre works to reduce the harms from alcohol and other drugs from prevention through to treatment. A key focus of the Centre is workforce development (WFD).

About the Role

The Research Fellow will undertake a range of research, evaluation, consultancy and education activities within NCETA. The incumbent will oversee the Centre’s data collections and provide statistical analysis and advice across various NCETA research, evaluation and consultancy projects. The position will also contribute to project design and implementation, and preparation of reports, academic manuscripts and other general publications. Projects may include research, evaluation, engagement and education with/for academic, industry and public audiences. In addition, the position will contribute to the preparation of applications for external funding.

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a discipline relevant to the alcohol and other drug sector (e.g. health sciences, organisational psychology, social work, nursing, addiction medicine, behavioural science, alcohol and other drugs)
  • Experience in undertaking quantitative statistical methods and knowledge of SPSS or an equivalent statistical analysis package
  • Research experience in writing high quality peer-reviewed publications, reports and delivering effective presentations at a national and/or international level
  • An understanding and experience conducting research in the alcohol and other drugs field (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated project management skills and or training to manage multiple projects at any one time (Desirable).
