About the Role
The University of Melbourne's School of Computing & Information Systems is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a renowned research team led by Professor Ben Rubinstein. The successful candidate will contribute expertise in Machine Learning, theoretical computer science, or databases to explore topics such as Adaptive Data Analysis, differential privacy, and the integration of Machine Learning in databases/systems research. This role involves collaboration on cutting-edge research projects, potential contributions to premier publication venues, and active participation in the School's academic community, with opportunities for teaching and research supervision.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Contribute to teaching, training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students;
  • Independently plan and carry out research on the nominated research project and work towards completion of the aims of the project;
  • Present results at local, national, and international forums, and to external industry and government stakeholders where relevant;
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Machine Learning, theoretical computer science, or databases, and have a keen interest in theoretical topics such as Adaptive Data Analysis and differential privacy. Strong collaboration skills, a passion for innovative research, and the ability to adapt to evolving challenges in these fields are essential soft skills for success in this role.
You will also have:
  • A PhD in computer science, or closely related discipline;
  • Ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research
  • Excellent ability in analysing data, problem solving and maintaining accurate research records;
