Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Customer Research, the role of Research Manager works cohesively across the Department and Member Domain with a primary focus on leading and driving the Consumer Insights agenda and ad hoc market research, to ensure customer preferences and behaviours at each specific segment are understood and embedded in all activity.
The role is responsible for primary research amongst members and other groups of interest (general public, businesses, financial advisers etc), involving the management of both in-house and external provider research projects and you will be responsible for distilling findings into actionable insights to inform customer related initiatives at the design, implementation and dissemination stages (i.e. end-to-end project management) across multiple channels, including management of service providers and stakeholders sharing outcomes with the relevant working groups involved at each stage of an initiative.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to;
- Core Research Programs for Retirement and Product Development - Manage core programs of work for the retirement domain and product department.
- Annual insights program development and delivery - Work closely with the Senior Manager to develop, manage and deliver a calendarised program of work which uncovers actionable customer insights.
- Insights reporting- Design and build a regular cadence of insights reporting to enable decision making and build the profile of AustralianSuper in public media.
- Subject Matter Expert - Act as a subject matter expert to the wider fund on primary data gathering methodology.
- Customer Research - Comply with the Customer Research way of working, to ensure this is in line with best practice and compliant with fund risk guidelines.
- Drive a deep understanding of member needs and behaviours at each segment, risks, and opportunities. This includes researching customer's current and future needs, monitoring relative market position against competitors (i.e., brand measures, market trends) and assessment of initiatives for indicators of success.
- Drive evidence-based decision making - including appropriate and simple metrics that provide solid data for informed decision making, such as business strategy alignment, cost/benefit, and cost/quality/risk.
What you'll need
- Minimum 10 years of professional market research experience
- Proven track record of designing and executing robust market research programs including researching service industries (e.g., telco, utilities, financial services, government)
- Proficient in qualitative and quantitative research methods, and surveying tools such as Qualtrics.
- Deep working knowledge of customer segmentation
- Advanced written and oral communication/ interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to senior management and large audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and incorporate multiple data sources.
- Experience on both agency/consulting and client side
- Experience with market research analysis tools such as SPSS and Q Reader, Table Builder
