We now have an exciting opportunity for a Research / Senior Research Officer to join our funded project “Progressing Health Equity through Strengthening the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce". This part-time (29 hrs per week), fixed-term contract to December 2025 is based in Cairns

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE 

We are seeking a dynamic and driven research professional to join our team for an exciting Health Equity initiative in Northern Queensland. In this role, you'll work closely with investigators and external partners in the Hospital and Health Service, primary health care, and Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health sectors to foster collaboration and communication. 

You'll play a pivotal role in supporting the Project Manager with ethical and governance processes, as well as overseeing data collection and implementation at our participating sites through leading co-design workshops. Your responsibilities will also include planning and participating in site visits and workshops, ensuring timely engagement with our team and stakeholders. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in disseminating project findings through various channels, including publications and presentations, and will be responsible for evaluating the project's progress, impact, and outcomes in close collaboration with our dedicated team.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
  • A tertiary qualification and research experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care settings.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, hospital stakeholders government departments, academics and field researchers. 
  • A knowledge of health services, and the higher education and research sector. 
  • Developed organisational, project management and time management skills; ability to work largely unsupervised and respond to competing priorities.
  • An interest in developing qualitative data analysis skills to assist in complex data analysis involving primarily qualitative data.
