Exciting opportunities have arisen for casual Residential Support Workers (RSW) to join the KRS team in Berkeley, Illawarra.
KRS is a non-government, non-profit, charitable community-based organisation that exists to facilitate positive growth through the empowerment of people affected by co-occurring substance use and mental illness. In this role you will provide support to clients of the service seeking assistance with substance misuse and mental health issues.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the RSWs support the efficient operation of the unit and the team. You will undertake duties such as client supervision and support, medication administration, data entry and analysis, administration duties, as well as other adhoc duties canvassed and developed by the team and allocated by the Service Manager.
The role is suited to applicants who are compassionate, empathic and professional, with a flexible attitude and strong teamwork skills.
We are looking for candidates who can work casual cover from Monday to Sunday (day, afternoon and night shifts).
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrable rapport building skills, compassion and empathy
- Strong administration and record management skills
- Excellent use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel)
- An understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Time management skills and the ability to prioritise
- Ability to function effectively without direct daily supervision
- A current C class driver's license
- Current First Aid certificate
Desirable Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (such as Cert. IV Alcohol and Other Drugs, Psychology or other welfare qualification) or working towards a qualification
- Previous experience working with co-occurring substance use and mental illness or working in a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility
- Previous experience administering medication
